Sustainability Data From GLYNT.AI Is Audit-Ready From the Start

GLYNT.AI’s data system was built for audits and compliance, with layers of testing, full reporting, finance-grade controls, and full traceability for every data value — including Scope 3 supplier data.

WHY IT MATTERS

Audited sustainability data is different. It’s trusted.

GLYNT.AI helps you achieve audit-ready sustainability data that brings data confidence to any reporting system.

Regulations & standards

After a slight pause, sustainability audit requirements are expanding worldwide.

Investor requirement

Lenders and equity investors want to see the data care and hygiene that it takes to pass an audit.

Internal decisions

Leadership is confident they can rely on sustainability data after an external auditor review.

Customer confidence

Supply chains and customers are demanding audited data from all suppliers.

WHAT IT TAKES

Audit-ready sustainability data comes from a data preparation system with processes, controls and governance

Be audit-ready with GLYNT.AI’s complete testing, reporting, documentation and compliance — using the same methods and rigor as financial data preparation.

Accuracy testing

Expect to show every data point is tested each time it is touched.

Data processes

How files and data move through your system, with tests to make sure nothing is dropped.

Monitoring & controls

How you set policies and procedures, put them in place, and test them.

Data governance

The rulebook for what data can be changed, who makes this decision and how your data is reviewed on a regular basis — from the sustainability team to leadership to the board.

TYPES OF AUDITS

What types of sustainability audits are there?

GLYNT.AI prepares sustainability data at reasonable assurance standards, so all of the choices below are covered by our data services.

Self-verification

Demonstrate that your calculations are accurate and follow the specified procedure. Self-reported.

Third-party verification

An independent third party checks your data and calculations against a stated standard.

Limited assurance

The auditor reviews calculations and methods, looking for any gaps or issues, and noting these if found.

Reasonable assurance

The auditor does deep review of calculations, processes, governance and controls, affirming that the data presented is prepared according to the standard.

HUMAN REVIEWS

Incorporate monthly review and approval workflows into your sustainability data management

Use GLYNT.AI’s monthly review package to incorporate the best practices for audit-ready data — the human review of exceptions, changes and outliers.

New data sources

Review and approve changes to what gets reported.

Outliers

Reconcile the odd values with real-world conditions, providing valuable context for data users.

Four-eye reviews

Mid-level managers review the data monthly and report to senior managers.

Better data

The monthly reviews shine a spotlight on data quality, catching errors early on.

HOW TO GET STARTED

It’s complicated and time consuming to build a complete audit-ready sustainability data system

THE FAQ

Questions about sustainability audits and assurance

Do we actually need third-party assurance on our sustainability data?

Increasingly, yes. California’s SB 253 requires limited assurance on Scope 1 and 2 emissions starting this year, moving to full reasonable assurance by 2027, and companies reporting under the EU’s CSRD or ISSB standards face similar requirements regardless of where they’re headquartered. Finally, data sharing standards for supply chains such as Catena-X in the automotive space require third-party verifications.

Does the SEC pulling back its federal climate rule mean we're off the hook?

No. Even when that rule is formally withdrawn, it won’t change reporting requirements in California or international frameworks like CSRD; those obligations, and their audit and assurance requirements, stay in place.

What do auditors actually look for?

Auditors don’t just check whether a number is correct — they check whether the process behind it is documented, consistent from year to year, and traceable back to its source.

How is this different from just having clean spreadsheets?

A spreadsheet can look right and still have no record behind it — no documentation of where a number came from, what was checked, or why this year’s method matches last year’s. Audit-ready data carries that record with it from the start.

What is a control, and do we need them for sustainability data?

A control is a policy of what should be done, and auditors look at the policy and how it has been implemented, so they can verify it is working correctly. Sustainability data, just as with financial data, has a fair number of required controls — which can be expensive to implement.

How long will an audit take?

Typically audits are 2–3 months in length. There is a period of evidence collection — typically 4–8 weeks — and then the auditor writes their report, which takes another 3–5 weeks. The longest part of an audit is getting ready. Auditors review a past year of data, processes, and controls, so typically companies begin preparation a year in advance.
